NMR Course (CHEM 5331) Information for Spring 2012: Spring '12 is almost here!!
Syllabus for Spring 2012 is ready for viewing...
- WHEN: 10:00 to 10:50, M,W,F
- WHERE: Ekeley Conference Room 165
- WHY: If you want to learn NMR Spectroscopy at a deeper level, so
that it's not such a "black-box". Anyone who uses NMR in their research
could benefit from this course.
- DETAILS:
-
2012 Course syllabus: (.pdf document, requiring Adobe Acrobat Reader, or substitute pdf viewer).
- TEXT: There will be NO books ordered for this course by the University Bookstore. You will need to use online resources such as Amazon.com, or other sites to get your books. BOTH BOOKS ARE REQUIRED!
- Tim Claridge, High-Resolution NMR Techniques in Organic Chemistry, Volume 2,. Elsevier (2009). (this is Volume 27 of the Tetrahedron Organic Chemistry Series).
-
Crews, Rodriguez, & Jaspars: Organic Structure Analysis, Second Edition, Oxford University Press (2010). This is a complete re-wrtten and updated text pertaining to NMR interpretation, as well as other instrumental methods.
- Third Text, strongly recommended: If you want an excellent collection of practical problems for using 2D-NMR to solve structures, this is a great text to have. We will be using many problems from this book.
- Jeffrey H. Simpson, Organic Structure Determination Using 2-D NMR Spectroscopy, a problem-based approach, Elsevier, (2008). This is an excellent collection of organic structure problems. You are strongly encouraged to acquire and use this text for practice in solving structures using 2D-NMR.
